Who’s behind The Woven.

Kickstarter backers are told to look into the people behind a project before they pledge. Here is Anchor Point Publication House, plainly: who wrote the book, who is publishing it, and how it gets made.

About the author

P.J. Singleton is a former military strategist and intelligence officer who has spent more than a decade working on emerging-technology policy at senior levels of government, including direct work on artificial intelligence and its consequences for the public. He holds several advanced degrees and has written extensively in other voices over the years, ghostwriting nonfiction on policy and national security and publishing in major national outlets under other people’s names.

He lives with his wife, his middle-school sweetheart, and their six children, who are the first and most rigorous critics of everything he writes.

The Woven is his first series, but not his first literary fantasy writing. He is on a mission to remind young readers of the joy he felt growing up reading The Lord of the Rings and His Dark Materials, and what it means to enter a world created inside the mystery of the human experience.

About Anchor Point Publication House

Stories that hold.

Anchor Point Publication House is a small family press. The work is slow on purpose, and the fantasy we publish is emotionally intelligent: it takes young readers, and their feelings, seriously.

Being small means the same few people are involved in every decision, from editorial judgment to production choices, so nothing gets diluted on its way to print. It also means a direct relationship with readers: no corporate layer standing between the person who wrote the book and the person reading it.

The team

Anchor Point is a family press, run largely by the family. The three oldest kids run the day-to-day, and their parents set the direction from behind the scenes.

Philip and Julie, their parents, are the press’s principals. They set direction and make the big calls, but they stay behind the scenes rather than out front.

How this book gets made

Every book Anchor Point publishes is written by a person, first to last. It is read closely, revised more than once, and edited for structure, voice, and clarity before it ever gets close to a printer. Nothing goes to print until it is proofed clean and print-final: what you read is the copy we stand behind. That takes longer than a big publishing schedule allows, and we think the difference shows.
